Rydell Car And Bike Charity Benefit Celebrates A Record Year
Grand Forks, ND — The proposed Sunshine Hospitality Home Project took another step toward reality last month thanks to a highly successful Car and Bike Show held at the Rydell Auto Center in Grand Forks. Organizers say they raised a record $77,212 through the show with all the proceeds to be donated to the Home.
Nearly perfect weather conditions greeted thousands of people who came out to see a record of over 330 classic cars and motorcycles that were on display. Participants were also able to bid on a wide selection of silent auction items, listen to live music, children had a play area and food was available by donation.
“This has quickly become one of the top car shows in the state,” says Brian Rydell.
“Its success has allowed us to make large donations to some very worthwhile community projects.” Rydell says there is every indication the show will continue to expand and they will have to make plans for the show to get better every year.
The show raises money through registration fees, individual donations, sponsorships and the silent auction. The Rydell dealerships match those donations.
“We are so grateful to the community and the generosity of the Rydell dealerships,” says Donovan Larson of the Sunshine Memorial Foundation. “We would like to see the home completed in 2015 and this donation comes at a critical time.” The proposed Sunshine Hospitality Home will become a home-away-from-home for families that come to Grand Forks for health care.
Since it began eight years ago, the Rydell Car and Bike Charity Benefit has donated more than $306,000 to a variety of local charitable organizations. In addition to Rydell, this year’s show sponsors included Coke-a-Cola, WDAZ TV, Clear Channel radio, Grand Forks Herald, Andy’s Tee Shirts, Bimbo Bakeries, Downtown Horns, US Foods, Acme Rents, Northern Air Family Fun Center, Red River Valley Motorcyclists, Kenny and the Classics, Northern Plains Potatoes and Rad Rides By Troy.
